In a closely fought match, the A's defeated the Guelph Regals 8-7 at Home to take a 2-1 series lead in the 1st Round of the Western Conference OJBLL Playoffs.
Max Brook and Jack Parker each netted a pair of markers to lead the way in scoring for the A's Christian Lefeuvre had a goal and 2 assists and was named 1st Star of the Game Mike Napoli stopped 44 of the 51 shots sent his way for a solid night between the pipes and was rewarded with the 2nd Star of the Game. A's needed a strong third period with 3 unanswered goals to take Game 2 in the Best of 5 against the Guelph Regals by a score of 9-8.
The series is now knotted at 1 game apiece as they play Game 3 back in St.Catharines at the Canada Games Park arena tonight (June 28) for an 8:00 pm start. Justin Porga led the A's in points in Game 2 picking up 5 on 1 Goal and 4 helpers. Christian Lefeuvre led the A's in scoring, picking up the hat trick and adding another assist. Lefeuvre was named 3rd star for his effort. Click on the boxscore below for all the scoring details. Despite a furious 2nd Period comeback, the A's couldn't hang on and lost the opening game of the 1st Round Playoff against the Guelph Regals by a score of 7-6.
After getting down 5-1 early in the 2nd, the A's stormed back, scoring 5 unanswered goals to pull ahead. However, the Regals then shut the door and scored the tying goal late in the period and added a single for the win in the 3rd. Regals player Owen Orpana led Guelph in scoring including netting the winner in the 3rd. Christian Lefeuvre led all A's scorers in the Game 1 loss picking up 2 goals and 1 assist. A's now lose home game advantage and will head back to Guelph to try and even up the series on Sunday June 26. The B’s have their final home game of the regular season tonight at 7 against Elora.
